My daughter is going to an audition in about a week, do you think its a good idea at a young age? Should I focus her more on school? I have mixed emotion on the situation, but she is excited about it. The agency requested for her to go to this audition.

Well, since she is already involved in modeling, if you pull her out of it she might go behind your back and do it --setting her up for some dangerous situations. I think you should help her have a balanced view and make rules, let her know her first priority is education and modeling is strictly recreational --she can do it if she has time from school or from just being a kid. Also, make it known to her that you will be with her to supervise ALWAYS. Hope I've helped.

It's hard because like you said, she's excited about it.

But I don't think it's a good thing to get young girls into. If society is any indicator, modeling will only mess her up--get her too concerned with her weight, looks, everything.

It's all about how you deal with it. You can support her while warning her of the troubles of the industry. Start talking to her now about eating disorders and all of the insecurities that can happen to her.

if your daughter has a dream then by all means allow her to have a chance for that to come true. i think it is a wonderful opportunity for her, you never know where this could take her in the future.... just keep an eye on the situation, make good choices for her and her career, also watch out for her image, make sure the clothes she models are appropriate for her.
good luck to you and your daughter!

Sure, why not? Somebody's going to make a mint. It'll be either her or Mikey, so why not give her the chance to pay her OWN way through college? Besides, they do have school on set for the kids, at least sometimes.

Yes.

The way things are going, the only models left will be teenagers.

I don't think it's a good idea to encourage a child to be a model, but if you want them to be, they'll need the training and experience.

i modeled at 11 and at 13. I still got to focus on my school work and my mom was all for it. Just let her do what she wants until things get out of hand. Don't let her go on diets. those can be dangerous. I never did one. they never appealed to me. lol. I hope everything works out for the better!

if you want a pint sized drama queen i say go for it! But try and make her understand that this is a very busy industry that she is entering and millions upon million enter or try enter it every day and not everyone can make it so just in case she doesn't let her know that education is a very important thing for her to be able to fall back on.

Me personally, children should be children. I think there is something morally wrong about advertising a child as a beauty object. That said, it is down to the individual. As long as you're happy, your child is happy, your child continues to do well in school - then go ahead, its your choice. Good luck!

As long as they don't wanna make her dress like a tramp then I do not see any problem with it. Think of it as a hobby that she wishes to take up. Just keep a close eye on the situation. :-)

It depends on what you think about it, and what she wants and what she needs.
