I've received my W-2 form from my old job, but i haven't received anything to do with the unemployment tax-related stuff yet. I need to know if I have to include this in my 2006 taxes, since I filed it around December 10th, BUT, I didn't receive any unemployment benefits until January 8th. Or would I need to just wait and include it in my 2007 taxes in a year? any help is highly appreciated.

Since you were paid in 2007, it will go on your return next year.

You got paid the unemployment in 2007, so it will go on your 2007 return, not the 2006 one that you're filing now.

whatever date the check is cut on....regardless of the source unemployment, earned income, wages...even if u are paid for work done on 12/31/06 of the year if the check is cut in January of 2007 it goes on 2007 return, and you should get a 1099 from the unemployment office at the end of next year as well so that you have all the necessary info for your tax return

if the income was paid in 2007, it is 2007 income and will be on the 2007 return. You won't receive anything because it isn't 2006 income!
