the study of books

I disagree with the people who are saying a bibliography is a list of the sources an author has consulted... I was always taught that you would call that list of consulted sources 'References'.

A list at the end of your writing called 'Bibliography' could only include books which you have read in full, to inform your work, rather than just consulted.

That may just be a UK academic thing.

bibliography is basically all the sources you've used to write up an essay or dissertation, be it books, websites, journals, cds, dvds you've used and referenced. for example the format for books is listed by the authors surname, initial, year in brackets, title in bold or italics, place of publisher and publisher. this goes at the end of the piece of your work

It's a list of books and publications included at the end of an essay as your sources, in addition to the referencing system used. It includes the author(s), title, publishing companies, year of publication and place of publication - ie London, New York, etc, just the city.

It can also refer to a list of one persons' published work.
