I am looking for make-up tips from skin care to make up colors and application for someone approaching 50. I like to look polished but not overdone. I can i get that dewy glow back. i eat healthy, drink plenty of water, etc etc.

Basic skin care is your first priority. Clean, healthy skin looks best after makeup application at any age. Try Marykay.com. They have skin care regimens for all skin types and age groups, and also have a "virtual makeover" where you can see what different colors look like on different skin types. You can also find a sales rep. for your area. It's a little expensive, but well worth it. I've used it for several years now.

Depending on what kind of makeup brand you like alot of name brands offer free make over. I know Clinique if you go to their counter will give you one and they will show you different techniques you can use what colors look great with you skin and hair color. A friend of mine loves MAC products and they offer the same thing but I think you have to pay for theirs or buy a certain amount of product. Go online to their websites and you can find out where there is a location in your area. Estee Lauder and other name brands offer the same service. Hope this helps.

I have similar coloring (but darker red hair) and feel like a lot of bright colors look clownish against my pale skin. I try to stick to taupes, soft roses, and brownish-pinks for the most natural look to go with my pinkish-bluish skin, but not clash with my hair. For more drama I turn to a sienna red lipstick. I know there's supposed to be a rule that ladies with fair skin should use a bright true or bluish red, but honestly that color looks awful on me. I think that rule is more for blondes & brunettes without red tones in their hair. Stay away from black mascara & eyeliners, and use browns or greys instead.

What you may want to do is to go to a department store or to Mary Kay and request a makeup lesson. Look around to find someone whose makeup style you like, who looks understated or sophisticated rather than dramatic, and tell them what you're looking for. It's been a while since I've been in to a dept. store, but the Prescriptives counter is usually very good at picking colors that are flattering for fair skin and that still go with the hair. I had a friend who was a Mary Kay rep do my makeup for my wedding, and she did a fabulous job too. She went with rosey brownish tones. She had great skin care products too.

fair skin people should wear less make up. I'm fair skin, I look best with nude foundation, darken you're eye brows with a brown pencil, brown, mascara, pink blush right below the cheek bones, no eye liner!. and use light red lip gloss and also, to help brighten up your eyes, make a v on the inside corner of your eyes with a white creamy colored pencil.
