The store I bought him at had two tanks of these fish, one labelled "small" and one labelled "large". I'm not sure whether that refers to age or just size. The fish I bought is tiny, only about 2 inches in length, hoever he was in the tank with the "large" fish. The "small" tank was empty, so I'm not sure if they consolidated and put him in with the larger fish, or if he's just a young fish. I know he's supposed to be a Black Moor, but he's bright silver, with very few black spots here and there. He has the same physical features as the large fish, just not hte color. Does anyone have experience with these fish? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Black Moors are not necessarily totally black, often they are black with a silver tint or marbled black and silver and the color becomes more defined as they grow.

Been doing some research as I am thinking of getting a lionhead goldfish. I came across this, it seems like some Black Moor goldfish is pretty silver like that shown in this picture

so that may just be his natural color for this certain type of Black Moor. :-)

He won't turn black. Moors can be born black (as can other goldfish) and then 90% of them turn white or orange as they age. Goldfish cannot gain black coloration. He must be in the middle stages of changing color.

You got a calico telescopic goldfish, not a black moor (black telescope). It will not become black. Goldfish are grayish when very young, then change to their permanent color. Put it in a sunny place for a while to try to enhance its color.

you have what is called a panda moor if he has the big bulgy eyes. if he has no big bulgy eyes he is a calico fantail. usually fish lose color as they get older but on occasion they will gain color. very young fish usually are brown and then color up from there.
