Would you take the job? Would you wonder what God meant by "a little while"? Could that mean (to Him), for example, ten days or ten million years?

yeah i've thought about that before. "a little while" to Him can actually be a long time for us.

hmm. i guess i would take over for him. not because i will have the power to do anything i like (although that would seem nice), but i've always believed that things happen for a reason.

think about it, why would He want YOU to take over of all people/Saints? He has his own reasons which we can never fully comprehend. perhaps He wants to test us through this, like test if we will give in to temptations to abuse our authority. He could want you to learn how difficult it is for him whenever we pray for something that isn't exactly good for us.

example, if u had a kid and he begs you day and night for a chocolate fudge sundae, would you give it to him knowing that he's got diabetes? it's the same principle for God.

all our life, we've been constantly searching for God and when he finally knocks on our doors, he stuns us with this weird question. well, since he asked, do not reject him. take up this responsibility... take up this heavy cross and do whatever he asks of you. obviously we cannot do such a good job as him, but the process of learning is much more important than anything else.

put your faith in him, and trust in his wisdom.

i guess it's best to just reply Him, "Your will is my command." and then pray to Him that no matter what happens, that He'll always be by your side, guiding you with the Holy Spirit, so that you will do only things that pleases Him.

or who knows... mayb.. all God wants is just really a vacation. =)

Though tempting. I would consider such an inquiry from God to be a test and would decline. I am not equal to or above god. And I would not assume that I could take his/her place even for a little while. That assumption is what caused Lucifer to fall.
. . . . If it was Satan on the other hand. I would gladly take his place. Watching over the damned sounds a lot more entertaining than guiding the souls of the meek to enlightenment.

There is no time where God is, so to me that could be any a little or a long time. But if you really think about it, he has already left for vacation and that's why we have to take care of ourselfs and everything in the planet for him, and we are ruining the planets. We need his help soon or the planet might die.
And he probably won't use a cell phone, his god he does things though your feelings, you just know what he wants.

This is just what I think.

If I had a phone call such as this I would think to myself.."When did He take His other vacation and Who was in charge then?"...lol
My answer to God would be very blunt. "Are you Nutz or What?"
I would not be the best canidate for His job nor would I apply. I would have to say "No" even though it was God. I would hate to think on the consequence due to my answer but I hope God would understand my issues and views on the topic. And to your next question in the meaning of "a little while". We, meaning God and myself would not even get that far in the interview because "No" would be my answer and no further discussion would be needed except for my fate if He got mad to my answer.

Not at all. In Matthew 23:9 Jesus says, “And call no man your father on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.” Many people interpret this to mean, “Do not call a priest “father,” and do not call your dad “father.” But this is the flawed, fundamentalist approach to interpreting Scripture. If we believe these opinions, then what are we to make of the Scriptures that contradict this one? For example, in Mark 7:9-13, Jesus criticizes the Pharisees and scribes for not honoring their “fathers.” Furthermore, calling the apostles and their successors “father” was common within the early Christian communities (1 Cor. 4:15, 1 Jn. 2:12, Acts 7:2, 22:1). As in the case of all scriptural interpretations, we must understand this passage in light of the rest of Scripture (cf. 2 Pet. 1:20; 3:16). In the physical and spiritual orders we have fathers. Those who give us life via procreation, and those who give us life via the sacraments (i.e. the priests). Pax Vobiscum+

I would do anything God asks me to do. If God needs a break I would love to take God's place for a little while and see what's it's like to be God.

God doesn't take vacations from being God. He is infinite. We are finite. He sure as hell wouldn't ask us to do His job for Him. Then He would be lowered to status level with idols. He wouldn't be God anymore. No more Bruce Almighty for you buddy, gives ya crazy ideas!

I don't think I'm cut out to be God. Maybe a demi-goddess, with some flaws, but not God Almighty.
