I have problems with my laptop overheating and shutting down, but it seems to happen much more frequently when my kids are playing on Club Penguin. Is it related or just a coincidence?

Thanks. I already have a cooling pad, which has helped. I've just been trying to hold off taking it in as I need the computer for work, and whenever I take it in, it takes days to get it back. Or, I may just breakdown and get a new computer. This one was crap from day one.

You already have a problem with your computer overheating and that is what is causing it to shut down.

If the web site is processor intensive, like running a game, this extra work may over heat your computer faster. It is not that the web site is doing anything 'mean' to your computer.

Try using the computer on a flat surface with good air circulation. If you are using it on a soft surface such as a carpet or your legs, some of the air holes may be getting blocked and so the computer can't suck enough cold air in to keep itself cool.

You might simply need a new fan for your computer. A small geek shop should be able to fit one in a matter of minutes, or even somewhere like Geek Squad in Best Buy. You should consider doing this or one day it may over heat and cause permanent damage inside.

the overheating laptop is a bad scenario.. But, in response to your question.. Although unlikely to happen. It is possible for a website to shut down your computer. Unfortunately, as much as people like to think they do. Nobody knows what is going on between two computers over the internet. Bye for now.

a pc often shuts down for one in each and every of two causes: (i) Overheating (you need to blow the fan out with compressed air) (ii) An mistakes or fault has occured and the computer has close right down to shrink the opportunity of extra harm no matter if it isn't overheating then the reason being a caution being despatched to inform the computer it needs to close down, then this second aspect can aslo be split up, in which case in case you try to rule it out in this order. a million. free area - eliminate the potential, open up the tower and reinsert each and every cable, each and every card and make certain the fan is securely linked, basically unplug each and everything and plug it again in again 2. An mistakes - First rule out the troublesome disk through operating a chkdsk, you are able to also to a attempt on the RAM through operating a MEMTEST, attempt eliminating a stick of RAM once you've more beneficial than one, then retry, then attempt it with basically the different stick of RAM. besides the undeniable fact that, the mistakes will be more beneficial extreme, the GFX Card has that is personal RAM and fan, in case you need to acquire yet another GFX card and attempt that one and be conscious if thats the case, attempt the hardcontinual in yet another pc, if it would not close down, a minimum of you've elimanated the troublesome disk. The CPU works like a calculator if thats throwing undesirable mathematics this may lead on on to mistakes causing a close down, in case you are able to not replace the processor you are able to wish a motherboard yet this must be the most suitable aspect to attempt because it might properly be the most expensive, regrettably reinstalling domicile windows is one aspect you are able to attempt because it is going to rule out an mistakes with the operating equipment, basically want to substantiate you've again up each and everything first.

Club Penguin has a lot of graphics to load, so it might cause ur lap top to overload and shut down. It happens a lot with older computers and lap tops. Good luck!

Sites cannot cause your PC to overheat; they can, however, eat so many resources (especially on older machines) that it crashes, or execute code that it can't handle.

I would suggest getting a laptop bay with a cooling unit (most electronics retailers carry this), and having a diagnostic run on your machine for resource issues, spyware, etc.

Unfortunately, without seeing the problem firsthand, it's difficult for me to give more detailed advice.
