A lot of women feel like this, you end up felling cheated because it seems so much easier with tampons, I heard ‘Tampax’ are longer and ‘Lil Lets’ are shorter and wider so I tried them too but it just felt weird and uncomfortable. I know you’re meant to by the lowest absorbency level for the amount of flow u have but then I found I had 2 change them every hour which wasn’t practical plus I had to wear extra thin pads any way for if I over flowed which are more expensive. Tampons sound better because you don’t have the embarrassment of asking your male friends were a bin is and worrying about it but constantly feeling like your going to give birth to a tampon at any minute just isn’t worth the stress, sorry I didn’t help but I wanted u to know that I know allot of girls have had the same experience.

Tampons, properly inserted, are not felt. From years of personal use of tampons and from the medical point of view (I am a doctor in sexual and reproductive health) I can see a few possible explications for your problem:
- You are not inserting them deep enough, because of:
othe wrong technique (watch the leaflet from the manufacturer; you could also stand up, and putting one foot on the rim of the toilet before trying to insert the tampon),
oyour vagina is try (already the end of your period, or you just took out a tampon , which was not fully soaked yet), which prevents a good insertion by “friction” and causes irritation therefore at the moment of insertion. You might want to try to “lubricate” your vagina with a wet finger (water o saliva)
-you are uncomfortable with your own body and/or are unsure about your anatomy because of bad sexual education, religious or cultural taboos etc., with raises your “consciousness” about the presence of the tampons or prevents you of inserting it properly, (the right direction at the time of the insertion of a tampon would be aiming in direction of the spot at the top between the two cheeks of our bum, where a tail would be inserted, if we had one….),
-you have a vaginal infection, which causes vaginal tenderness at the pressure of the tampons (and usually vaginal discharge etc.)
If you never had sex with vaginal penetration, this would obviously another good reason of your problems: the hymen would or could be in the way. There is also a tiny possibility of a vaginal “deviation” or malformation. Any quick check with a GP (general practitioner) could clear that question. Don’t believe people who tell you, you’re “too small”. The vagina is an extremely stretchable organ, made for the passage of a newborn’s head….
I recommend you to try out different brands (with or without applicator) and consider a chat with your GP. Good luck.

If you are feeling discomfort then it is probably not inserted correctly. If you feel this when you bend over it most likely means that you did not insert it far enough. I would suggest starting with a Tampax "junior". Make sure you follow the directions on the pamphlet and insert it all the way in. You shouldn't be able to feel anyuthing if it is inserted all the way.
Although I prefer tampons because they are much more convenient and more hygenic, not every woman feels comfortable with tampons. If you don't feel comfortable using them, stick with pads. Use whatever feels best for you.

I have been using tampons since I started my period at 11. I was a virgin and never felt any discomfort. The vagina is a muscle that stretches so your "hole" is not too small.
Follow the directions when inserting. All boxes of tampons comes with detailed instructions (pictures included) on how to properly insert a tampon.
It sounds like you are not inserting them correctly. Tampons are comfortable and you won't even know it's there when they are put in the right way.
Good Luck!

Try using the Tampax Pearl kind or the ones that come really small and then expand when you open them. You should really try the very smallest available size and move up as needed.
Stand with one leg on the toilet and insert it far enough so you feel comfortable. It has nothing to do with sexual experience.

I don't like them either , they are uncomfortable and don't actually do what they're supposed to do either (absorb) They just act like a plug and are horrid to put in and (yuck ...out ! sorry lol) They're so dry how can you push them in as far as you're supposed to?
I recently read about a natural tampon called sea pearls http://www.seapearls.co.uk/ I bet they're comfortable and effective, but how impractical is a washable tampon for goodness sake?
Imagine it! working in the office and it needs changing! How the hell are you supposed to do that ! :O lol
I use pads too, slimline ones but it would be nice not to have to use anything :(

It took me several attempts to get used to them too.But if you follow the instructions, make sure youve inserted them properly, and you really will get used to them.It may feel a little uncomfortable at first, it does for everyone, but once you get used to using them it really is so much easier, and you feel fresher too.Try using them during the day, and maybe switch to using towels at night.good luck

it sounds as though you havent got it all the way in . you need to push gently until you feel it go"loose " i know this is difficult to understand but if you havent got it in right this is why it is not comfortable. it colud also be because you are too dry , are you using the right strength, try using a smaller one.

You are not inserting them far enough. Probably because you are afraid too. Relax. You are made to stretch down there so it has nothing to do with size.
