No. You need to buy it separately now. Microsoft are squeezing people dry. You only get WORKS and notepad and things like that. You can get the Student Office package now though and if you are buying a laptop try and get a discount on any office package. Best way is to not take it up to the counter with the laptop. Just ask what software comes with it then um and ah as the salesman tries to get you to buy the laptop by adding softwares like office on a discount price.

Normally when you buy a new pc or laptop microsoft office is NOT included and you have to buy it, this can be very expensive espeacially if you want the professional system which also includes Access.
As an alternative you could go to www.OpenOffice.org and download that system absolutley free. It has all the functions of Microsoft Office professional system. It will also load up all your old Microsoft Office files. I did it and it works perfectly, in fact there are features there that Microsoft do not include. Certainly Word, Access, Excel, and Powerpoint is well catered for.

You generally need to buy it seperately.
Most new laptops and PCs come with a 90 day trial version, which stops working at the end of that time.
If you want to buy it you can order it at the same time as the laptop as you'll get some sort of deal on it.
You also get different versions of Office i.e. student, small business and professional. The cheapest is the student version at about £100 but only has Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
The Professional edition has everything, but can cost anything up to £450.

It depends on who or where you get your computer from and whether they pre-install a trial, a full version, or not at all. Most PC computers and laptops come with a 30 day trial of MS Office which includes Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc. Just assume any PC is going to come with a 30 day trial and anticipate buying the full version when it expires.

Usually Microsoft Office is provided as an option with any new computer through Microsoft retail reseller partners (Dell, Gateway, etc.) But Office is not a part of what you are buying when you buy a laptop. It is a seperate software suite that you purchase, either from the same company which you purchase the laptop, or from any Microsoft product OEM retailer.

No, what your talking about is called MS Office. Its not included. A mini version of Word, called Wordpad.exe is included with windows. Also MS offers free viewers to most of its programs. Like you can download a free PowerPoint viewer. You only need to buy Office if you want to Create files like Powerpoint for instance.

You have to buy it seperately in most cases. You might can find a local computer store that sells laptops they built and they might include it. This place I work for in austin includes MS Office Basic suite in the build package. Basic doesn't have powerpoint or access.

No. Most PC's that come with Windows will have Microsoft Works - a free suite which include a Word-like document editor, and Excel-like spreadsheet editor and an Access-like database editor.
Works does OK for me, or if you want something better you can download OpenOffice for free!
Microsoft Office is just another suite of software you have to fork out about £150 for if you want to buy it brand new and legitimately...

Go to their web site it will tell you what it comes with and sometimes you can get it with the computer (Pre-installed) for a small fee. But Apple comes with LOTS of software and you can get discounts! Really good deal!

If you're buying a NEW laptop, I'd make it a condition of the sale.
