I agree. I think it's considered acceptable to make comments about people's bodies when they're thin, because that's what's seen as the ideal. However, it's just as hurtful. Some thin people have trouble gaining weight, or wish they were more curvy, or whatever. I've seen co-workers make comments to other naturally thin people, like, "oh, you can eat anything" ... "look at your tiny little body" ... "geez, what do you do, starve yourself", and it clearly makes the person uncomfortable. Even though people still think certain things about overweight people, it's not considered acceptable to say them at work, for example. You don't see people telling overweight co-workers, "look at you, you must eat constantly" or something .... Such personal comments about someone's body, whether directed at thin people, or at overweight people, are just inappropriate, in my opinion.

I think that's a terrible attitude to take from teachers, they should know better, is it any wonder that the kids today have eating disorders with idiots like that saying stupid things, if someone is thin then maybe its because they are built that way and nothing whatsoever to do with anorexia, same with a person who's overweight, it could be medication for cancer that there on, another form of illness or just lack of confidence that makes them that way, never judge a person by their body weight, its not fair and not right.

My friend is extremely thin, she walks everywhere, exercises regularly but she eats really well. She gets upset when asked or taunted about her weight and when we're out for a meal people are watching her to see what she eats! I think sometimes its just jealousy though. The media have a 'norm' that the public think they should conform to, but everyone is different and as long as you're happy who cares?!
