I had my daughter in mid-July, and let me tell you, there was NO WAY i was going ANYWHERE that wasn't air conditioned!!! Anyone who says you can't have a baby in an air conditioned room isn't being accurate. There is nothing wrong with it, especially on extremely hot days. Baby's are human too and need relief from the heat, just like grown children and adults do.

Best precautions to take from baby getting too cold or catching a cold is:
- not to leave her right near the air conditioner
- cover her with a light blanket
- keep socks on her
- don't go back and forth from a cold room to a hot environment, this will increase chance of baby getting a cold.

my doctors always told me, if mom is comfortable, the baby will be comfortable. I wouldnt have the baby naked all the time under AC but, if the adults are dressed normally and ok, then the baby should be too. Of course if the baby is preemie or has health issues, I'd try and keep him covered a bit more. Best bet is to ask your doctor.
My grandmother constantly turned off all fans and air every time my baby was around, even in Aug. in Alabama, and I had to fight her to turn the air back on. She was convinced that the breeze or air would hurt the baby. It might have been dangerous a long time ago, but with modern medicine and care, it's not a big deal.

Okay look my baby was born in July and it was 120 degrees outside and yes I had the air condition on. I put her in a long sleeved and long legged sleeper and covered her with a light blanket. They say if it is to cold it can cause baby to die of SIDs but the truth of the matter EVERYTHING can cause SIDs, the brilliant doctors dont know WHAT causes SIDs so they grasp at straws and blame everything they can think of. With that being said yes air conditioning is FINE!

If it is hot in the baby's bedroom, then by all means, having the air conditioner on will be fine. Just make sure you keep the temperature, like others said, around 70 - 72 degrees. But please, never, never, never put a blanket on your little one because you think he or she is cold. That is one of the biggest causes of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). I wish you all the best.

Most advice seems to state 18-20 degrees C is the ideal temperature for a baby (http://www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/sleep/roomtemppoll/), but it depends on how many blankets you give them. Our baby finds the low hum of the air conditioning soothing.

70-72 degrees is good for a baby. If that requires that you turn on the a/c, fine. If you live in a hot area, it's better to have baby in a/c than to have it overheating.
Keep in mind that the a/c only feels cold because it's hot outside when you have it on. Just like the heater in your home is only warm because it's cold outside.

The best temp to keep your baby in is around 80 degrees. If you go any colder it's ok just make sure your baby is well clothed and a blanket is never too much.

Try to keep the room around 70 to 72 degrees, babies can't acclimate to changing temps as well as children and adults can so it's best to keep the room the baby is in around 70-72F

If it's cold where you live I wouldn't.....in the winter here, they tell us to keep the house or the baby area around 72 degrees (US). If you are in a warm area, I guess I wouldn't bother with the airconditioning unless the baby seems over heated....I'd call and talk to the Ped abou this.
