How do I write a follow to a past manager to see if they have jobs available. What should I say in the email? I haven't spoke to them in over a year, but I really enjoyed working for them before. (We were all laid off, so I didnt quit the job)

That should be done personally-in person. Tell him/her that you enjoyed the time that you were employed with them and would the consider re-hiring you if they happen to have any openings. There's nothing better than leaving a job in a good standing.

DO NOT SEND AN E-MAIL....it is the wrong way to do it.

Try to see him in person, that way he can remember you, you can have a light conversation about your life since you left and the companies situation now.

Even if there is no job, you will be remembered for the future.

The next best...way down the list, is a phone call.
Next would be a letter, but it is so impersonal.

Never an E-mail...it will be treated like spam.
