In June i am moving with my fiance to Tacoma Washington. I need an apartment, she is 20 i'm 19. I have no credit history i'm sure. and i worked for a year and a half between the ages sixteen and 18....but then had to stop to finish up some school. But i've been working a few months now at Walmart lol. And i plan to stick with it. Is there ANY way possible i could aquire an apartment before June? i'm dying here.... i'd even pay a few months rent up in advance. i don't know what else to do really, i'm moving, even if i have to sleep on the streets. any advice here would be absolutely appreciated. thank you.

Why don't you try applying for one? Some are efficiency apartments (rent includes the utilities) or are leveled on the amount you make. You can get reference letters from credible adults to help get you in the door. Just as long as you are not a felon or have been evicted.

Heya! Tacoma is a nice city. :-).

With no credit history you may be required to put up a small additional deposit (refundable when you leave) or pay first and last month's rent, but aside from that you have employment so it shouldn't be an issue.

A good idea for you would be to apply for one or two credit cards with low limits to get you and your fiance started on the road to good credit. Try Orchard Bank Visa/Master Card. You WILL have an annual fee but you can cancel the card in a year or two and move on to a better card once you get started. Just stay below 25% of your limit to help your credit. THen in a few years you and your FI can buy a house or not worry so much about rental checks! :-)

I don't know the law and regulation in your state about renting apartment. But what I know in Illinois is that you must be 21 to be able to rent an apartment(sign a lease).
Credit History should not be a problem (if you're working as full time). However, you might have to pay a security deposit more than what it should be. It depends on a negotiation with your landlord.
Advice:
Grab some newspapers and find a local landlord or any apartment for rent rather than a corporation or company-type landlord.THe local landlord gives more flexibility in term of requirement and etc than a corp-landlord.
Or Find someone who has a multiple-level house (like 3 floors) and open each level for rent.

So many rentals are based on your credit score and it's not that you have a bad credit history, you just don't have any credit. With that being said, you will most definitely have to put up a security deposit... even people with good credit are required to do that. You probably won't be denied b/c of a lack of credit, like lending companies. I would say you shouldn't have a problem getting an apartment. Plus you have work history and I would assume that you would transfer to the Wal-Mart located at that town, so go ahead and look for that apartment, you should be just fine.

It really depends on the rental requirments of that particular renter. Most likely you can find something. But, if your income is not steady or too low you might not be approved for more upscale rentals. Some renters require credit checks, a high enough income, and large down payments, and other require none of these at all. Perhaps your bet is too look at people who are renting private apratments within there house. Sometimes you can find really nice garage type apartments with kitchens and seperate entrances. Ussualy these people are not strict at all. They just might require a secuirty deposit and 2 months rents. But they wont run credit or income checks on you.

Most likely you will be able to find a place you may just have to hunt around alot.
