I'm one of those that are very picky about how my laundry is done, folded and even smells ..... so when I started to smell this "fishy" odor as my family walk by, my nose went to overdrive trying to find the cause. Well, six months later, my nose is still twitching and haven't solved the issue. I'm a mother of three kids and married for 16 yrs so I thought I had this laundry thing down to a "T", but somehow odors are still slipping into my laundry! I've changed detergeants, the amount being used, fabric softners, even hanged them to dry, added odor eliminators in my wash, checked the dryer vents and changed out hoses ... and still smell, smell, smell. Someone PLEASE help me so that my nose can be at ease!

Is it possible the source of the smell is your water supply?

I use Gain and Downy and Bounce dryer sheets in excess and my laundry smells great. I, too am fanatical about how the laundry is done. Sometimes a person's body chemistry mixed with the scent from the products used creates an unpleasant odor. Try using some baking soda in the wash. It absorbs odors well and helps to clean too. Compare what's going on with your laundry to how different perfumes smell differently on different people. Something that smells great on you may reek on someone else because of the different chemistry. I guess you will have to continue exploring the possibilities until your nose gets happy. Good luck!

sound´s exactly the same thing that happened to someone else here on yahoo answers, they had some one come in and check there machine, & something to do with the water supply , they told them to and white wine vinegar, and run the machine ,then bleach run the machine again , and now there is no fishy smell . just remember ,not that I´d think you would run the machine with clothes inside ,but stranger thing´s have happened . So you could try & at least you will know if it is the water supply or something else

are you sure its the laundry and not one of your family members?? i know that sounds kinda mean, but maybe one of them has had a change, and your smelling their odors, instead of the laundry?
