A big, heavy, metal (iron?) key with a long shaft, a round end with hole for a keychain, and two or three little tines at the front end. Inserts into a big heavy, dark-wood colored door, in the whole under the doorknob. It opens all the doors in the house.

I don't think an old fashioned skeleton key means anything more to me than any other type of key. If I saw it as an icon, I would think that it was "Help" or something of that nature.

It reminds me of a key that would open everything. Kind of like a master key. Also it reminds me of the Kate Hudson movie "Skeleton Key".

it kinda reminds me of a box with some secret to hide. My great aunt had a skeleton key over her dresser, on a really dark blue ribbon. It opened a chest in her attic, but she'd never let anyone open it. It had letters in it from her "lover", and it said how one of her daughters wasn't her husbands..................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
