Human beings are rational animals who can judge their actions and change themselves according to success and failures. They have a remarkable ability to adapt themselves to adverse situations. Humans have survived through the ice ages, developed technology and science, conquered the space and discovered the mysteries of nature. All these are a result of a highly developed brain.
At the same time, human beings are cable of loving, caring for others and being selfless in helping others. Many a times human beings have sacrificed their own lives for the cause of society and humanity. This is a quality of heart as opposed to the quality of head.
If we compare these two qualities, I would say the quality of head is best since it puts humans apart from all other animals.

The best qualities of a human being? There are many qualities that humans have; however, that does not mean that it or they (qualities) will exist in every human...or having a particular quality...lets say the ability to reason...does not mean that every human will use that quality to elevate it...so that it can be called the best quality...

The best thing about being human is free-will. The right to make independent choices is awesome. While I believe it is limited and does not exist in the manner that it should, free-will is the best aspect about being human. To some extent we have the choice to love or hate, live or die, eat or drink, sleep or remain awake, and be social or reclusive.
There are many restrictions on this privilege, but free-will remains one of the best aspects about being human.
Imagine a world where all of your choices are made for you, being a slave, or being in a position where you had no choice whether to live or die. If this thought is fathomable, then this may be the closest place to hell imaginable. I hope this helps.

It is said that the one thing that is the hardest for humans to do, is to forgive. So I would have to say, the best quality, is our heart. Though it does not make decisions, it does hurt for those in pain - unless you are heartless of course.

The ability to adapt, consciously. We can think and we can cut our learning process by who only knows how much time and effort, because we can make choices based on higher logic.
This capacity supercedes the ability to do almost any of the other things here listed!

Forgiveness. We all make mistakes and we live in a society where we need to forgive.Look at the ex-cons who find it so hard to find a job because of their record.Often they go back to their old ways due to not being able to find work. They do background checks on these people and won't hire them.We need to learn to forgive more often.

Introspection.
I agree with Aristotle who believed that contemplation of one's own thoughts, feelings, and sensations is the highest human good.

I think empathy and heroism (humans are the only animals who will endanger themselves to save anyone other than their young). What do you think?
