When I purchased the vehicle 3 months ago, the car lot people did a final inspection. (They have a service garage on sight). however they broken the tire pressure monitoring sensor. They ordered a new one and installed it on Monday. Now, I am getting a message saying check tire pressure monitor with an orange light. I am going back on Satuday. Can anyone tell me what could be wrong? I love my truck and this is the only problem I am having

Tire pressure sensors have to be reset before they can learn the RF code from the ECM. GM makes a tool to reset them, however, the tool is basically just a magnet. You can reset the sensor yourself by holding a strong magnet over the valvestem. The ECM will not usually recognize a sensor unless it has previously been on the vehicle and already set to the specific RF frequency.

You might avoid a trip to the dealer by doing this procedure...
FYI - - the magnet WILL NOT WORK as the previous entry stated.

Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Apply the parking brake.
Turn the exterior lamp switch from OFF to parking lamps 4 times within 4 seconds. A double horn chirp will sound and the low tire pressure indicator will begin to flash indicating the TPM learn mode has been enabled.
Caution: Over inflating tires may cause personal injury or damage to the tires and wheels. When increasing tire pressure do not exceed the maximum inflation pressure as noted on the tire sidewall.

Important: If a horn chirp does not sound after 35 seconds for any of the 4 sensors, turn the ignition OFF to exit the learn mode and repeat the procedure from step 1.

Starting with the left front tire, increase/decrease the tire pressure for 8-10 seconds, or until a horn chirp sounds. The horn chirp may occur before the 8-10 second pressure increase/decrease time period has been reached, or up to 30 seconds after the 8-10 second pressure increase/decrease time period has been reached.
After the horn chirp has sounded, proceed as in step 4 for the next 3 sensors in the following order:
5.1. Right front

5.2. Right rear

5.3. Left rear

After all sensors have been learned, exit the learn mode by turning OFF the ignition.
After the learn mode has been exited, adjust all tire pressures to the recommended kPa/psi. Refer to Vehicle Certification Label .

My Alert also says service tire monitor. It seems like it only does this when its really hot weather. when the temperature cools, the alert doesn't go off anymore.. I also read it does that when its cold weather also. I have a 2004 GMC Yukon Denali.

after changing the sensor the computer must relearn each wheel position and pressure....there is a procedure for this, can be done with manufacturers scan tool or can be done with aftermarket tire pressure reset tool.

some vehicle also have a provision in the computer for resetting yourself...if that option is turned on in the pcm

I own a 2004 denali issues with "service tire monitor" and traction active ...does anyone know what is wrong and how do I get this fixed? Every mechanic and tire place the vehicle has been to seems to come back with same messages. Tires got replaced and one sensor on the left front was replaced but still has the error messages come up??? getting frustrating...any help is much appreciated. Thanks
