Because we tend to pity ourselves, and look at other people who seem to be in a better situation at the time. I've grown to realize that "everyone" has problems. Most of which they wont share with other either way!

In many situations, the grass is always greener on the other side. When we are feeling bad about our lives our self-worth is obviously low. We want to trade places as a quick fix rather than face our own hardships. This too will pass.

Ok now you know that there is no way of knowing what is going on in other peoples lives behind closed doors.
Yes, sometimes the grass does look greener but it could be a paint job. A lot of people's lives are so messed up that they make things up to make themselves, and their lives, look better.
I know it can be hard to do, but you need to go out and make your own happiness and stop looking at other people and comparing.

This assumes I think that, which I don't. I don't think everyone else is having such a great life either; I just think they are coping somewhat better than I am.

People think that the grass is greener on the other side, but it actually isn't. This is one of the all time misconceptions.
