When you become an adult

It depends entirely on YOUR body's unique cycles. Most women do NOT have textbook cycles. The best way to be sure when YOU are fertile and ovulating is to chart.

Contrary to popular belief, the best time to conceive is BEFORE ovulation, when you have fertile cervical fluid. Sperm can only survive 30 min - 4 hours in the vagina in the absence of fertile cervical fluid. W/ fertile CF, they can survive around 5 days. CF often dries up during or immediately after ovulation.

You may ovulate earlier or later than the "standard" Day 14. YOu may have several days of fertile CF or half a day. You may have a normal luteal phase (the time after ovulation) or it may be borderline or too short to sustain a pregnancy.

Charting can tell you if you have any issues which may delay or prevent conceiving/carrying a baby to term. Charting can help you time intercourse to give you the best chance of acheiving (or even avoiding) pregnancy.

Some good sources: Fertilityfriend.com (free software as well as a pay-for version and on-line charting turorial); ovusoft.com (discussion boards for many fertility related issues, much info on fertility after the pill, and a very good software for purchase). The books Taking Charge of Your Fertility (associated w/ the the ovusoft website and software) and Garden of Fertility.

It depends on your cycle. Most women ovualte 10 to 14 days before their period begins. Ovulation occurs one day a month, but there is a window of days on which it is possible to conceive. Sperm can survive approximately 3 - 5 days in the uterus and fallopian tubes, so it may be possible to have sex on a Monday, and not conceive until Thursday for example.

To increase your chances, you should be monitoring your cervical mucous, which may sound a little alarming but is not. I recommend idreamofbaby.com for tons of helpful hints.

You should probably start having sex every day, or every other day right after your period ends, and keep it up for about two weeks, or until your are sure you ovulated, which you can tell by monitoring your basal body temperature. (Again, you have to go to idreamofbaby.com) And lie still or with a pillow under your butt afterward for about 20 minutes, to give the swimmers a chance to get where they are going.

Good guess, I got pregnant with my son DURING my period. There are these home kits that you can buy (at least there were 13 yrs ago) that would predict when you were ovulating. And if you try during those times, you should get pregnant. But like I said, I got pregnant during my period (and it wasn't during the last days, I think it was right after I started. Good luck!

If you have 28 day cycles, then at about day 14 you ovulate, so have sex days 12---13 and then days 15---17.

it really depends on your cycle. If you have a 28 day period cycle then you could start trying to conceive about 11 days from now. Then after that then what you do is have sex every other day so that the man can build up sperm. You can actually do that from the day that you quit your period. Have fun while trying to conceive.
