It's at school.....they divide you by grade and randomly put you in "homerooms". It's not a real class but this is where they give out notes, reportcards, etc....... at my school we go once a day (first thing in the mornings.) It's not that big of a deal. I don't think it was a stupid question.....you didn't know.....Hope you understand.

Usually, "Homeroom" is a section of the day set aside not for true class time, but for administrative things. When I was in high school, we had an hour period of "homeroom" once a week.
Things like SAT/ACT scheduling could be taken care of, general announcements about upcoming events could be made, etc. Things the faculty needed to be sure the students were informed of, but didn't want to take time away from real subjects to do.

looking at all the other answers I just HAVE to ask: you all only had attendance taken once a day?!?!? Wow, it was taken every class and got me into trouble constantly--I always felt I didn't need to actually GO to a class if I was averaging an "A" or "B" in it. For some reason the faculty couldn't see my point of view. :P

Each student is usually assigned to a particular Homeroom class (or Advisory Class) which is typically held at least 15 minutes per day. This is where the whole class is able to listen to announcements or student council reports. Here, the Homeroom teacher checks the attendance, distributes/collects forms, and monitors student behavior and achievement. Notebooks and homework are also checked.

it's a class that meets, usually the first of the day, to take attendance, give out school announcements, etc. It is usually only 10-15 minutes long, but some schools use it as a time to study and do homework, too

Homeroom is where you go when you first get to school. The instructor takes attendance for the day and goes over any school announcements.

It's your main classroom, your main teacher is your homeroom teacher. You can go to other classes like science, math, whatever, but homeroom is your classroom, if you were to think about it, it would be your home in the school. Hense the name homeroom.

It's the first room you sit in at school. And maybe where you return for certain parts of the day, especially to go to a special program or something.
Maybe at the end of the day too, just before leaving. Not always.

It is where you report to first when the bell rings, and until you begin 1st period.Primarily, it is a place for roll call, and get info the school wants you to know about.
