I ate some hot spinach, not realising just how very hot it was until too late. I don't know why I didn't detect the heat before it went down my throat, but the pain as it went through me on the inside was excruciating, and as I went to sit down, I fainted, before shaking upon awakening. Is this inner burn, or shaking, much cause for concern?

that happend to me too but before it went down my throat my tounge got it the worst. I dont think the spinach can be that hot to do damage but who knows everyone has differnt type of body. By the way didnt you realize that the spinach was hot before you swallowed it? Most likely if it was that hot your brain will tell you not to put it in your mouth and if you did, your mouth will tell you to spit it out. Plus ever drank really hot coffee?

it can be really serious. if it was just one bite, i dont think you could do a whole lot of damage, but it really can hurt you. if you should find yourself in that scenario, take a drink of something, even if its room tempurature. cold milk or water is best, but you need to do it within a few seconds of the hot stuff being swallowed. next, breathe really deeply for a minute or so.

the pain, and burning that you are feeling is not good. you may want to have your doctor take a look to see how badly you burned your throat and stomach.
