Do your personal web surfing at home, and use the school computers for school work.

Okay, I'm guessing you need these for school right?
well the most common way in which networks block certain sites is by url filtering, that is, by monitoring the http network packets for urls, then checking them against a list to see if they are 'safe'. However, we can easily change the url of a website.
An url is basically some text we use in order not to have to remember the ip address of the server on which the website is located.
We can retrieve that address quite simply though. I'm assuming you are using windows, so go start, click run, then type cmd
then ping, followed by the site address. Ping useses the icmp protocol so you can still ping blocok sites. Look for the ip address, jot it down, then enter it in your address bar and hit enter

So, in the command box, type this:
ping blockedsite.com

Then look for a number that is in this format:
24.85.135.122

and go to it in your browser. There are many ways you can encode the ip address if it is blocked as well, but that should be fine for low level school security

[as long as you're not using this for myspace...]

check out Tor.

it's not just one proxy site, it uses multiple sites strung together. you'll have to install the client for it though, not something to do at school unless you want to get booted.
