around chattanooga? I usually start all of my garden, whether I was living in K.C. or Asheville N.C. or Arkansas after the last frost, when the ground can be worked. The last pumpkins I planted were in kansas city, and i put them out w/ the rest of my garden and they were harvested on time around september. you have to remeber too, that pumpkins like squash and gourds, will keep in a cool cellar or carport for weeks, and if the conditions are really good, pumpkins, like acorn squash, will last for several months.
