I live in the state of IL and the apartment I moved to did not have a telephone jack. I had one installed. Shouldn't my landlord pay for the installation?

since a telephone is not a requirement, but a luxury item, I am not sure what the law is. I would think it would be good business practice to have at least one phone jack though. Being a telephone installer, that is always one of the first items I look for in a new place. Have it removed when you move, no sense in allowing your landlord to benefit from your generosity. Is this a brand new apartment or one that has been around for a while? Older apartments may be grandfathered if there is a law stating one has to be provided... Good luck!

not required. youll have to contract the installation. but installing the phone costs and has much wiring involved usually. go mobile. we did a spread sheet on the pros and cons cause we too have no phone jack. moblie won by a landslide
and apperntly, unless youre at a library, you dont need it for internet
