My company has has created a position and hired someone that will take over a substantial amount of my responsibilities, they are also eliminating my incentive pay for that position. I am not salaried, but was given the title of Mgr. They are replacing me with a salaried Mgr and leaving me just as line staff employee. It just dosent seem right.

The answer to the first question is YES.

And that is the way it is. As long as you are signing the back of the check, what is on the front can be changed at any time. And without your approval.

U have remedy under the law.Those days are gone when the employer can sack u or depromote whenever they want.But the question is whether you had a contract with the employer.If so you have a say.And please note companies are artificial judicial persons.They can sue and be sued.They cannot act arbitrarily.And if you are in India and if its a govermental concern,u can file a writ of mandamus,to give you a reasonable and good reason for their decision.It applies,ie.reason,to all cases.But check your stand and the contract of service with a counsel

What exactly was your employment argeement with your employer? Unless you have something to the contrary, the assumption is quite simple. He pays you for working at whatever he asks you to do -- as long as that is mutually satisfactory. If it ceases to be mutually satisfactory -- and it sounds like it has -- then you are free to find a different employment arrangement. Maybe on your next job you can negotiate a deal where you are in control of what you do for him -- good luck.
