Scrap the prima donnas, make selectors accountable, hire more qualified coaches at the youth level with fitness objectives etc. They should follow the Australian method - they can bring any player to the national team and they succeed a la Mike Hussey, Brad Hodge, Mitchell Johnson.
Greg Chappell is fantastic but it seems the admins are not paying heed to his words. He has repeatedly stressed that cricket should be strengthened from the youth level right up to first class cricket. How many times have we seen a domestic run-glut machine fail miserably in Int'l Cricket? Badani, Gambhir, Joshi, D. Mongia. Maybe even Uthappa as he's not proved himself to be consistent, in my opinion, he almost doesn't have a back-foot technique

Cricketer initially should concentrate on their play and now a days they are very much interested in the promos and in the advertisments as everybody gets oportunity once but they donot forget thet they sot oportunity because of thier play but some time they forgets all and devotes time in the extra activities.
And major factor is the team spirit but as quoted some player play to win but some player play to escape from lose as indian cricketer comes in the second type so they change their attitude as they got millions of spectators and wishes and if they think they can win the worldcup easily.

It's been a long time since I've been 'in' cricket but I can presume not much has changed in India. Off the bat (pun intended) I would say they need to drop the politics and favoritism and hire the best players regardless of where or who they are from.
The world of sports is way too good to be handicapping yourself in order to please the rich guy next door.

Get more Western (Australian?) coaches in at first-class level and get rid of the comfort zone that surrounds many players in the system. Definitely get more specialist coaches in, top priority someone like Jonty Rhodes to work on their fielding!
