a) To find c, substitute c,0 into the equation.
(c+2)2* + 25 = 169 ; c+2 = sqrt ( 144) = +/- 12; c=10 (question states c is positive so -14 is not a valid solution)
likewise for d
4+ (d-5)2* = 169; d-5 = sqrt (165) = +/- 12.85; d=17.85
b) Since OCD is a right angled triangle. A=1/2 * c * d = 99.25

Note, I think your question may be mistyped, should it read (x-12) ? c=24, d=10, A=120

in order to find out where the circle meets the x axis, plug 0 into the y value of the function, do the same for the D value, plug 0 into the x value and then solve.

once you've found those, all you have to do is use (1/2)CD in order to get the area of the triangle
