When I voted for him in 2000, I did so because I wanted him and not Al Gore to appoint Supreme Court Justices (if any vacancies occurred on the Court during that term).

I assume that quite a lot of Americans voted for Bush in 2004 because they wanted Bush and not Kerry to appoint the replacements for Chief Justice Rehnquist and Justice O'Connor -- maybe Justice Stevens.

Actually, he didn't win the popular vote..Gore did. With the voter's fraud in Florida - aided and abetted by his brother - and a voting mess in Ohio, the Supreme Court declared him the winner. First time in history that has happened - and will never happen again. It was such a corrupt sham perpetuated by the RNC that the rules and laws have been changed.

Why he was re-elected is a mystery to me. They did such a good job of smearing Kerry. They lied, invented stories, attacked Mr. Kerry's wife and generally riled up the so-called "Christian coalition". The campaign by the RNC was so nasty and filled with dirty tricks I believe many Americans just turned away from it and didn't vote.

Bet we won't do that anymore. Our apathy has allowed Mr. Bush to do the criminal things he and his administration have done. I wonder if our country will ever be the same; if our reputation can ever be repaired.

Hopefully the citizens of our country have learned a great lesson - and that is: be carefull who you put in power.

Because, like the Republicans, the Democrats ALSO failed to nominate a good candidate. Bush just happened to win the 50/50 split of votes nationwide (again). It was no different than tossing a coin to choose the "lesser of two evils".

Not all Americans. I was over him then and certainly now. I hate to admit it, but the Democratic Party has been hard pressed to give us any viable candidates in the last two elections.

Because the alternative was John Kerry
Knowing he was going to decide on who was going to be on the supreme court and almost screwed that up by nominating a cronie

Because John Kerry was their other option. Why else would you vote for Bush?

because Kerry is scary. end of story...if Dean hadn't been murdered by the media, we'd be in a very different spot right now...
