How do you pronounce it when you say it? "Ver-bee-age" or "verb-age"? I think most people pronounce it "verb-age", which absolutely grates on my nerves, but it's really the other pronunciation.

I suggest you have a regional accent that it grates on. Dictionay.com prefers vur-bee-ij.

I pronounce it ver-bee-age, because heck that's how it looks like it should be spelled!!!

Both are acceptable; at least it's not as bad when people say nuk-u-lar.
