I think you'll be able to find enough information. If you need poll results, this is a good place to get them. Personally, I have no problem with same sex marriage, even though I am straight. If someone loves another person, who am I to tell them that they are wrong for getting married? Does it hurt me? No. How would I feel if someone told me I could not marry my fiance, because they don't believe women should marry men?

Don't know what your views are, but those are mine.

Good luck with your project!

We live in a country that is supposed to guarantee separation of church and state. Therefore, the law has no business saying who can and can't get married based on religious grounds. And there are no other grounds.

During the early 1950's, psychologist Evelyn Hooker carried out a landmark experiment where she tested both heterosexuals and homosexuals with tests designed to be diagnostic for mental disorder. She then presented the test results to other psychologists and asked them to pick out the homosexuals. They could not. These results were peer review puiblished in 1957 and as a result, homosexuality was removed from the next version of the Diagnostic and Statistical manual.

"As of 2006, all of the professional organizations in the field state that homosexuality is a normal, natural, and fixed sexual orientation, with the exception of a small group, The National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality whose beliefs appear to be based on conservative Christian theology." Currently, the American Psychological Association considers any attempt by a therapist to change a client's sexual orientation to be unethical..

Years ago, some people said it was wrong for blacks and whites to marry and it was illegal in some states. Yet it really was just an excuse to enforce discrimination and enable bigotry.

It's not enough to simply say it's wrong. You have to be able to say why it's wrong, without using the bible. I challenge anyone here to find some valid reason for denying a group of people a basic human right. We're not supposed to have second class citizens in this country.

Please don't say anything about the sanctity of marriage. Heterosexuals like Britney Spears do far more to tarnish that concept than any gay or lesbian couple that I know could possibly do.

Frankly the straight people have reduced marriage to a point where I do not want to be associated with the term.

I have been with my husband for 16 years and I wish there was a federal civil union program where we could indicate we have chosen one another to go through life with forever.

I do not want to be associated with the church concept of marriage where you can get divorced in 55 hours if you choose, or where you can be married 8 and 10 times and no one bats an eye.

I want to be a part of a union that indicates that I will work on my relationship - a union where I know there will be good and bad days and I am willing to accept that - a union where termination of that union is really upon death not upon sobering up!!

It is quite all right, that people of the same sex can have the same rights and also the same duties before the law as heterosexual couples. That is what same sex marriage is about. It is also right that there should be a ceremony for it, but it should not be called marriage. Perhaps then all the so called Christians (he/she who is free from guilt may throw the first stone...) would have less problems with official partnerships between people of the same sex. God has given us the desire to love, and those who feel love towards people of their own sex must not be punished for that

I feel that same sex marriage should be freely allowed just like any other. People are making too much of this and preachers are fostering hate when they should be teaching love and acceptance as Christ mandated. In the US, gay people constitute about 10% of the population. Since this is decided at or before birth, there is no way that your sexual orientation can be changed. So, no matter whether you accept same sex marriage or not, it will never really matter.

Marriage is an archaic institution that has no real place in the modern world as all the legal protections it provides could easily be accessed by heterosexual and same-sex couples through civil unions. However, as long as people insist on getting married, then all people should have access to marriage. In a democracy either we're all equal or IT'S NOT A DEMOCRACY. Either we should all have access to marriage or NONE of us should.

Personally, I think it is kind of nasty, however. everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I don't have a problem with it, if they love each other and they want to get married, who cares, let them do it. Why is it hurting everyone else. That is their business. I think that all of this stuff banning gay marriages is riducolous. This is a personal matter not a political one. Personally, I feel a little uncomfortable when gay people express their affection in public, but so what, I feel a little uncomfortable when someone is next to me with a thong hanging out of their jeans, but does that mean we are going to ban thongs now. (just an example) I just think that people need to mind their own business.

I say let them get married. Marriage is a coin flip anyways. Let the fruitcakes of this country have all the same problems as straight married couples.

don't change your topic, this one has lots of room for development. i'm all for it, because everyone should have the right to marry the one that they love. the only people who believe otherwise are those who think that their personal religious beliefs should be made into law for everyone to abide by. if you're looking for more information about pro same sex marriage, check out the human rights campaign website, i believe it's hrc.org, and you'll find lots of info about how they're trying to make same sex marriage legal. good luck!

I beleiev it is no ones place to tell you who you can and can't marry....I dont care if you wanna marry a dog. It's your choice. Im not the type of person to tell you you're wrong or right, because opinions are opinions.

But to me, the government is inforcing religion on us. The reason Gay marriage is illegal in most states, is because it's against christian policies. And to inforce it for that reason is wrong.

My best friend is gay, and he's a normal person just like anyone else. so wouldn't you hate not being able to be with the one you love because the governemt says you can't be with them? thats a load of bull s***.
