I have watched it since the early days in the 60's. I love it. If our current leaders would only watch this show and apply some of the wisdom spoken our world would be a better place with less war and tension.
Some of the spin off shows were not so good though. One in particular-the name of the series escapes me. I just remember most of the scenes were situated on a space station.
Every captain, every actor grows better than the last. Kirk was my favorite and thought no one could ever replace him. Now I feel the same way about Picard. I love how he treasures the old ways, like reading real books instead of computer screens, for instance. And Riker? Ooo-la-la!
Two things from the show I wish we could do now- transport instantly from one place to the next and replicate a meal by speaking into a computer.

Oh definitely. Love Voyager and TNG, and when I got around to watching the episodes in order, DS9. I pay homage to TOS, though that is more out of loyalty to them for starting it all and the amazing breakthroughs. (i.e. first interracial kiss on TV) I think I have to let go and appreciate it for the camp that it is.
I have so tried to get into Enterprise, especially since I love love love Scott Bakula. Quantum Leap is my all-time favorite TV show. But man.. there is just something lacking there - perhaps the chemistry, the characters or maybe it is just too dark and claustrophobic.
I have all the episodes saved (TiVo -> DVD burner) My loyalty to ST is so strong that one day I will make a bigger effort to like Enterprise!

Yeah, I'm afraid I am a Trekkie at heart. While I prefer Piccard to Kirk, Spock to Tuvok, and Riker to well, any of them, I find that they all contain valuable lessons for today, like all species can be friends to a point, and there is always a "disposable ensign" in our lives.
