Seriously isn't this against their best interest?

it may be against their best interests but anyone who THINKS knows it is the only way to liberty. (i'd rather be a slave to my own wages than to a government of socialist size.)

First of all, virtually all of us "live paycheck to paycheck". Second, even though I do live that way, capitalism is being extremely kind to my property value and 401K. So I don't see it as being against my best interest. However, the fact that the government confiscates more of my money for Social Security taxes (which I doubt I will ever see returned) than they do for income taxes IS NOT in my best interest. I could have earned an 11% return in 2006 on that money had I been able to allocate it to my 401K instead.

Hello,

I live paycheck to paycheck.

You must bring hope six figures or are a millionaire, right?

What else am I supposed to be for if not capitalism?
Socialism? Where our government leaders what me to give to the poor or have equal distribution?

Oh, maybe you have forgotten, there is no more middle class.

I am, or was, part of the middle class.

How about you?

What side of the fence do you stand on and why?

Hope this helps you.................. : - O

Obviously, you have not learned from history. Socialism and Communism have never worked. See the former Soviet Union. See today's North Korea. See how China is converting. Capitalism is the average persons best chance at making money - provided he/she is willing to do some work. YBIC

I would rather have the opportunity to make my money and choose not to than be doomed to a cast system where I am stuck in a certain economic level because that has been my families lot.

Capitalism gives people an opportunity to do something with their lives, for as we all know, money is a wonderful motivator. . .

For the same reasons the slaves under Communism support their governments... it's all they have (they think) and they have to feed their kids. Best interests have nothing to do with lifestyle at gunpoint.

Indeed an enigma. But really, as somebody else said, people tend to accept the lifestyle they're used to and fear the unknown. Sad but true.

People support what they know and fear what they don't know. Also propaganda is so effective and so out of hand no one knows what's true and what's not these days. I'm just about ready to go live in a cave.
