This is perfectly normal and called the "moro" or startle reflex. You will see this happen if a loud noise goes off by your baby or she feels as if she's being dropped also. It is her nervous system and reflexes developing...and that's a good thing...don't worry she will grow out of it soon.

If you want to put your baby to sleep in 20 seconds you must get the "Instant Baby Sleep" MP3 sound track. Here is their official web-site: http://www.instantbabysleep.net
The sound track gently produces energy over the full human hearing spectrum with an embedded pulse that gently eases the brain to the Alpha state well known for drowsiness and sleep induction.

It is completely normal for new babies to twitch alot it will subside in later weeks...my daughter was born 12/22/06 and now has smoother movements with her arms and legs...if she sleeps on her back she is still jumpy when her arms drop down...Totally normal, don't worry.

Its normal. Think about it. She's always slept in the comfort of a tight womb all around her. Now she has nothing around her and the natural reflex is to startle like she's falling.
Try swaddling her when she sleeps. Or putting her in a sleep positioner.

This is normal. She is getting used the lack of confinement. Try wrapping her up in a blanket or buy a swaddling blanket. They are wonderful. That should help until she gets use to the lack of restriction. She may also be dreaming, which is normal also. Good luck with your little one

If temp, pulse and resperations are normal and it's not vigorous spasm as in a seizure, then these are normal reflexes. Always consult your pediatrition on medical issues though, you shouldn't rely on things in here. You never know if your getting the right info. Use this as a back up if you can't get ahold of the doctor.

If it's twitching a little it could just be her nervous system adjusting to being outside the womb. However if it's violent twitching she could have something more serious going on. I'd call your pediatrician and ask him about this as soon as possible.

Awwww.....congrats on your little bundle of joy!!!!!
It's totally normal for little babies to twitch and jump a little in their sleep. All of my kids did that too. What helped me and the little babies is to try to swaddle them. they like to be swaddled tightly (but not too tight) because it makes them feel like they are in the womb.
Good luck to you and your little one!

I would start looking into a good Olympic Team USA Coach. She might be a natural and you can't start training too early.

I would ask her doctor about this right away, it could just be a muscle spasm.. this actully happens to me and wakes me right up.
