What Is Emo???

Everyone calls me an emo,
But what is an emo???

Emo's is the newest teenage trend where the girls look like boys and the boys look like girls.
It has made it's way across the Atlantic courtesy of a number of musicians where the term "Emo" was given to describe bands whose music had emotional lyrics about "feelings and stuff."
Emo's are recognised by the fact that they wear very tight jeans,have fringes draping down over their faces and have a combination of bizarre piercings.They are into bands that a lot of people have never heard of,and they are very sensitive individuals.The "Emo" boys like to kiss each other because they think it impresses the girls.That does not necessarily mean however that they are gay.
If you can relate to what I have written, then yes, you are probably an "Emo" but that is nothing to be ashamed of.
I hope that I have explained myself clearly and that you are not offended by the people that call you an "Emo."

Being emo is not a trend or any of that its wean you cut yourself because of depression deep hurt and stuff like that but emo is usaly associated with black hair scremo music gothic clothing but as far as im concerned the onlything they all wear is long sleeved shirt orhoodieys to cover the scars

The gunners... That is a total lie I am emo and that, my friend, is partial truth.. But not even close to the full truth.
The label emo, yes, is a style ... They had rad hair , usually black with the occasiional unnatural colored highlights. Most, but not all Emos suffer from depression. The stereo type is that they cut themselves, this is true of SOME, but NOT ALL Emos. They do wear band tees. But no they don't dress like the opposite gender, nor do the boys kiss other boys. That my friend is a perfect example of stereotyping. They listen to emo bands which is.basically a genre of rock music. There are many non-Emos that listen to the same bands. The bands are not all unheard. Hope that helps :)

An emo is just someone who expresses their feelings with music, art, what they wear, etc. For some reason if you wear black and have a lip piercing that makes you emo. But really, it means nothing, it's just another label from society to make people feel left out.

Emo Is a style, it involves listening to the emo music genre, and wearing dark or gothic clothing, or u can get by with a band tshirt and some jeans, but mostly it is someone who wants to be unique, stand out and rebel against the people who just do what everyone says is cool. Emos are people who want to be themselves.

A lot of what people say is valid but not completely true. Not every "emo" kisses guys, they're called guys who like guys, simple as. Not every "emo" girl is a lesbian, they don't all cut. I mean jesus christ a lot of people who wear pink and listen to one direction cut. The actual term emo is short for emotional, emotional music. That's what it was orginally all about, a different music genre that used emotional lyrics and basically meant something instead of the usual crap that goes around... No offense. I personally don't put a label on someone because it's stupid, I get called an emo but I just ignore it, i'm not an "emo", I'm me. I will admit that I have met "emos" who have cut, or are gay, lesbian or are generally sad as people stereotypically think but I've met even more "normal"/"trendy" people who do that stuff. It's just different characteristics that people have. I have flippy hair, wear black makeup and ****. I'm straight, never cut, listen to "emo" music and have odd piercings. But people say i'm one of the most cheerful and funny people they've met. I'm proud of who I am and I'm not gonna change for anybody, if I did that then I'd be basically ruining my life, my parents and friends hate the way I am but they deal with it. ;) This probably has turned into a rant sorry, I get carried away with this stuff... Might have helped, might not have... oh well! Here's what an "emo" isn't ALWAYS!

-cutter/self harmer

-suicidal
-hate life
-listen to screaming
-have no friends

Genre of softcore punk music that integrates unenthusiastic melodramatic 17 year olds who dont smile, high pitched overwrought lyrics and inaudible guitar rifts with tight wool sweaters, tighter jeans, itchy scarfs (even in the summer), ripped chucks with favorite bands signature, black square rimmed glasses, and ebony greasy unwashed hair that is required to cover at least 3/5 ths of the face at an angle.
