I went to petco and it said once a week but i'm not sure if thats just cause they want to make more money on subsrate so I need to know?

If you're using sand (which you should with leos) use a pooper scooper or a spoon with holes to remove the poo and the pee (it hardens in the sand) once a week. Completely change the sand every 6 months.

if its not to dirty the tank can got for two wks i just got mine on the 7 and went a way for the weekend and they had made a mess on the vines i put so it depends on where they poop at if yours r lke mine and like to go on vines and trees just clean that 1 a wk or in the mid of the week and the rest of the cage 1 or 2 wks it dont matter i used maulch but its rly messy now i use the terriaum carpet and they seem to like it i hope i helped

ignore those who say some thing about sand being undesirable, if all and diverse suggested leopard geckos are recent in Iraq, which does look to have a large quantity of sand in it.... there are particular sands you should use

leopard geckos only use one area for pooping and peeing in the tank so just scoop that area and do a total change every 6 months

once a week is good but you dont need to change the substrate every time just remove the dirty stuff

i dont do it very much cuz he alwayss sits under a log and alway soils in the corner:)
