If she is sure she is not pregnant, then she should consult a doctor as soon as possible.
If she is dieting in a manner that is not natural - like purging or taking laxatives, then yes she is in grave danger of hurting herself permanently. Missing your period in a case like this is a warning bell that your body is no longer responding to the normal courses it should be going through.
Talk to your cousin and find out exactly how she is dieting. If she looks unhealthy - has dark circles around her eyes, is listless or irritable, skeletal or otherwise unnaturally thin, then the chances are good that she is not dieting properly.
Look up anorexia nervosa and bulimia on the Internet and get some info before you talk to her.

It depends on what your cousin is doing. Dieting could have something to do with the menstrual cycle depending on the diet. There's only three things I can think of that can prevent her from getting her peroid.
The first is that she is on the patch or some other kind of birth control that you can not see. This would be normal to not lose blood during her cycle because the body thinks that she is pregnant and she is not.
Second, check with a dietition to see wether or not her diet would affect this. Then see if there is a diet that would allow a normal period.
Third, seek a doctor. If she is in no discomfort, there may be something going on internally and so gradually she wouldn't notice. There could be a clog of the falopian tubes that transport the ovaries to their final resting place. They are not getting there and getting jammed. The doctor can give a treatment for this problem or if it's bad, do surgery to fix.
I hope this helps and hope she figures out what's happening.

In order to keep your period regular you have to have a certain amount of fat in your body. For example, I'm a gymnast and I get it every 4 to 5 months and that is because I have so little body fat that my body doesn't release the normal amount of eggs it should. This absence of period is due to lack of body fat. she needs to start eating more or eventually she wont be able to have children. Her body is shutting down due to the lack of calories its taking in. If she continues this way her reproductive organs will be of no use when she wants to start a family. We athletes that are in very good shape have this period problem too but because of the exercise and HEALTHY DIET we do we dont risk any of the things that your cousin is risking. Please tell her that she needs to start eating more and exercising or she risks dying from a stroke no matter how old she is. Goodluck with that and please take care of her.

Well, the same thing happend to me. I have gotten anorexia and I lost quite a bit of weight. I lost my period for about 5 months but the doctor put me on birth control pills and it helped me get my period back.

It is not unusual especially if she is dieting but if that is the reason then she is dieting excessively. If she doesn't get it within another month or two she really should see her doc about it though.

She may want to go to the doctor because it may be the diet that she is on she may not be getting the nutrition that she needs. It wouldn't hurt for her to go and get it checked out.

it sounds like her body is in distress
that's just one symptom
be careful, she could have an eating disorder...even if she is dieting and is trying to loose weight, she could be taking it too far and starving herself, or even throwing it back up. when your body is in distress from lack of nutrients it shuts down, and the period is one of the first things to go.
