I wouldn't. It's fine the way it is.

Nothing. No one forces you to say the pledge in it's entirity, nor under what god.
When you say the pledge, If you are a believer in a goddess, just say, 'One nation, under goddess...'
If you are a believer in multiple dietys, just say, 'One nation, under gods...'
If you are an atheist, just say 'One nation, with no god...'
so on and so forth.
Nothing needs to be changed in the pledge, if you are truly objected to declaring yourself a nation under a god, then heaven forbid you pledge your allegiance to a piece of red and white striped cloth!
It is easier to CHANGE YOURSELF than it is to change everyone else.

Yes. Return it to it's original form. When the knee-jerks in Washington in the 1950s added "under god" to it, it was no longer a beautiful pledge of patriotism but became a religious statement.
The words of the original pledge are beautiful. Recite it slowly, one sentence at a time, and think about what it is saying about your feelings for America. It is a wonderful affirmation.
The "under god" thing is exclusionary. Whose god? Which one? - Allah? Buddha? Catholic god? Jewish god? Vishnu? Great Spirit? What about those who don't believe?
And - don't tell me this is a "Christian Nation", for it isn't. Even most of the founding fathers were not Christians...so that arguement doesn't hold water.

Dumb it down. Remove all of the punctuation and capitalization, replace "to" and "for" with 2 and 4, and any five-syllable words like "indivisible" with wtf?
