When I am VERY tired, and FINALLY lay down in bed to relax, the MOMENT I relax, perception is altered. Everything seems tiny, but also a hand's stretch away. Can someone explain this phenomenon?

came across this but not in recent years,i used to get it when i was young, you look at something and it seems tiny as if in the distance yet it is right next to you,i also used to get the feeling that the ceiling was closing in on me,say i looked at the ceiling it would seem distant and then it would seem as if it was closing in on me,unsure of your severity but to me it seemed very very frightening.it was at the time although many years ago put down to extreme tiredness and bad diet by my doctor, whether he was right or not who knows, but an improved healthy diet and more sleep seemed to cure the problem.

it's just the normal sleep process the body goes through, since you happen to be semi-aware, you start to notice these things. when the body sleeps, it shuts down all sensory input, since it doesn't need it, and everything goes into a low power state, like putting your computer on stand-by. being aware of this happening can cause similar effects
