Some people use K as a definition of KB. A kilobyte is normally considered as 1,000 bytes but it is actually 1,024 bytes. A 1K picture would be small. Most people depending on what the site willaccept post no lessthan 35 to 50K pictures, and in some of the sites with galleries we post picture of up to 350K, and then link them to a post.

kilobyte equals 1024 (or 210) bytes. Likewise, a megabyte (MB) equals 1024 KB or 220 bytes and a gigabyte (GB) equals 1024 MB or 230 bytes.

What everyone else said was pretty much correct.

but just for reference.sometimes you will see kb in lowercase meaning kilobit, not kilobyte (which in my opinion is entirely stupid)
