I am 23 and looking to pet sit. Is there a certain thing you need to be a good Pet sitter. A couple of places say you need insurance before you pet sit or a certification. Is that true? Can I just start pet sitting without those? I do have insurance, but that's from my job, job. Also I do have much experiance with many types of animals (reptiles, dogs, cats, birds, etc) .Thankyou for your time.

The insurance they are referencing is a liability insurance - in case you lost their pet, steal from their house, or you get hurt taking care of an animal, not health insurance which you receive from your work. If you want to work without the proper insurance you should start with family and friends and a good calendar. Most pet sitters have to go to someone's house 2-3 times a day to walk and feed an animal. If you have the ability you could also offer to have an animal stay with you while someone is on vacation/sick/in the hospital, etc. Start with fliers you make on your computer. But definitely if you want to make this a real job, look into insurance, or contact an agency that offers pet sitter and become their employee. Good luck and God Bless.

start out pet sitting family and friend's pets. Then make up a poster about you and pet sitting. Then put your family and friend's numbers on there as sources, so the people considering you, know you have experience and are good with pets.
