It is possible I guess, even though never happened to me! The best thing for you to do is go to the dr. for a blood test! Then if negative he can determine what is up! Best wishes! Sorry, I see you had the blood test, so I made an edit, even an eptoptic preg. shows a positive usually! I wish you luck! I really do not know this!

Can I still be pregnant if the test is negative (have a "false negative")? In a word, yes. You could be testing too early (before your baby is making enough pregnancy hormone to be detected by the test.) And some women (this is fairly rare, but possible) never get a positive urine test even when they're definitely pregnant (for some reason the hormone doesn't make it into their urine.) I have a friend who didn't get a positive HPT until 25 DPO! (With her second baby, a test at 23 DPO was negative . . . but a test on 30 DPO was positive. Oddly enough, with #3, her positive test came at only 12 DPO.) If you get a negative test but think you might be preggo anyway, wait a couple of days (giving the hCG hormone time to build up) and try again. It's not over until the fat lady sings-- and your period crashes the party.
If you are not monitoring your fertility in any way (OPK's, charting cervical mucus or basal temperature, ultrasounds) it becomes extra-tricky. There are two parts to every menstrual cycle: from the start of your period to ovulation, which can vary quite a bit in length, and from ovulation to your next period, which is usually consistent in length. (This second half is known as the "luteal phase," and the normal range is 10-16 days. It's normal for your typical luteal phase to vary by a day or two. For example, mine is normally 11 days, but 10 and 12 are not unheard of either. I have also had a couple of longer ones by total fluke.)
Because ovulation can happen at any time, it's possible your egg was delayed for some reason (stress, illness, travel, excitement.) This doesn't mean your period is actually "late" (it could arrive within the normal 10-16 days after ovulation), but rather than your entire cycle was delayed due to a later-than-usual ovulation.

If you are pregnant you just may not have enough hcg hormone to detect just yet. Having an ectopic pregnancy would not stop you from getting a positive on a hpt.(just had an ectopic removed 2 weeks ago and had a positive test result immediately only 2 days after missed period)

hello, u can never be sure, I'm 9 weeks pregnant and I've only just shown up on a test (very faint). My friend didn't show up on a pregnancy test till a week before she had her son. Ur HCG levels maybe too low to show up if u are pregnant. If it is an ectopic pregnancy then be aware of a pain in ur side and in ur shoulders if these symptoms appear go to ur doctors or the hospital.

Please go to an early pregnancy assessmernt unit (most hospitals now have them)
They can do a blood test that will test your levels of HCG. They may scan you, and book you for repeat tests. Normal pregnancies mean that your HCG level should double every 48 hrs, even if they are low. HCG levels that do not increase by around 50% in that time, may indicate an ectopic pregnancy. Your G.P is a bit too casual about Ectopic Pregnancy, they are very serious if left undetected/untreated. Don't want to alarm you, just thought you should know.

Not including the doctors test, which you said you havn't gotten back yet. Not every plastic strip does work. I took several with all 3 of my kids and they never said +. I had to get the blood test done. So it is possible. First off the strips pick up hormones that start up during pregnancy, not everyone has the same level of them so, the strips don't work for everyone. Another is, if you tested early, they may not work. Honestly I'd go to the doctors before taking another test strip myself.
Hope everything turns out fine, and the news is what you want it to be.
Good luck!

An ectopic pregnancy would still show up in a pregnancy test, however my concern is why the doctor, if he or she suspected an ectopic pregnancy, failed to get you straight to an ultrasound machine to confirm it, and if it was ectopic, get you straight onto the operating table to resolve it!
A blood test alone cannot confirm an ectopic pregnancy.
This is a VERY serious matter - are you sure the doctor said that he/she thinks it may be ectopic?????? Did they do any investigation?
When are you due to see your doctor again?
If you experience any of the following symptoms, alone or in combination, get yourself to an emergency room immediately - any bleeding, any vomiting or diarrea, exceptional pain during urination, bowel movements or passing gas, dizziness or fainting, rapid pulse, abnormal sweating, or any stabbing pains in the pelvic area, under the rib cage, or up into your neck and shoulder.

Eptopic pregnancies, tend to release far less of the hGC levels than in a regular pregnancy. This is due to the embryo attaching in a small, confided area, where the placenta finds it more difficult to attach, therefor releasing far less of the hormone. Which could be why it hasnt picked it up. But your best bet is just to follow your doctors advice.
