It sounds to me like your BFs windows media settings are set to copy protect his music!
I cant remember off hand how he turns it off but if he looks in the windows media options it can be done!
Ask him to turn off copy protect and burn you another copy!
Alternatively use Clone CD from slysoft and burn it that way!
Its a trial software so you can use it for so many days!

The copying of any protected CD to distribute to anyone is a violation of the Licensing agreement of the software, and a violation of the copyright protection agreements. In a nut shell, It is Illegal.
There is no known way that I know of to do what you are asking, except to go and buy a copy of what ever CD your bf copied for you.
Oh and by the way, this is a public web site and the Government has people that checks these sites for illegal activities. It would not be wise to pursue this conversation on any public channels of communication.

I never tried it but on the old tech tv program they claimed that if you carefully used a permanent marker around the outside edge,it would cause the drive to miss the licensing data.

disable the auto play, because if he burnt you a sony cd, it may have put some software in computer not to play those type of cds

sounds like he downloaded the movie from a p2p like limewire.....alot of things that u burn from the p2p's now want u to purchase a license...its there lil way to make sure that they still get paid......unfortunatly ur not gonna see that movie unless u get that license......if it wasnt from a p2p client then he needs to rip the dvd he copied w/ a ripper like DVDFab........
