I just didn't think an adult would bond with me like a baby would, if I raised it from a young age...but I was thinking it would be nice to rescue one. everyone takes the babies, like with any animal, leaving only the older ones. any help or suggestions would be appreciated. thanks!

I rescue reptiles all the time and I think the bond is stronger then when you raise them, because they're so thankful for being rescued.

Reptiles are not the best animals for bonding.....beardeds are friendly and docile.....rule of hand for reptiles, the older the hardier and more expensive, like fish.....not like cats or dogs.....for example we bought a baby cham for $30......grown would have been $300.....he is now a sub adult and VERY hardy and beautiful....if I had the option between buying a baby or adopting an adult I would go for the adult everytime (especially if it is heathy, mite free and captive bred).....if you feed and handle it, it will become friendly

if you have never owned a bearded dragon before, you should probably get a baby one because the first bearded dragon i had was an adult and it required ALOT of care. and about after a year, it got some kind of sickness so i had to take it to the vet twice a week and eventually, it had to get put to sleep. so yeah, definitly go with the baby just so you can get used to it and stuff.

if you get a baby it is easier to tame them, while rescuing is a great thing and I dont want to discourage you from rescuing, you wont know the temperment or background of the dragon as you would with a baby. if you get a baby you should look for a breeder or a reptile specialist pet store because it is very hard to find healthy reptiles and alot of pet store do not properly care for their reptiles. best of luck to you!

a baby because they do bond with you. I have 2 of them and you'll be suprised at how quickly they grow. They are great pets. Very friendly and they like attention. Be sure to wash your hands after handling them and buy a small mister or spray bottle. They like an occasional spritz. Also be sure to buy a book on care and feeding. And don't forget to give them cool names. Mine are Spike and Buzz
