Unless you have a chance at a career playing, there are many other sports out there that don't require you to get the crap kicked out of you. And being this would be your first year and probably playing with a bunch of others that know how to play, the probability of that increases greatly. If you love the sport, dont let me sway you, go ahead and play. But I have more than a few friends with back, knee, joint problems from HS sports, mainly football. And I'm not talking guys that are 50 with a bad knee. Kid at work is 26, had 2 back surgeries, last one to put (2) foot long+ titanium rods in his back. All steming from playing football in HS.
But I jump off cliffs with my snowboard so who am to talk, lol.

Well I can't really give an expert opinion, since I obviously didn't play football in high school, but I say go for it. You don't want this to be one of those things you look back on and regret. I'm sure if you're fit and practice hard you'll get to see some game time.

Well, you would have to try out...The coach is probably going to wonder why you waited til your senior year to go out for football...but if you're really fast, as you say, you could be a wide receiver, assuming you could catch the football...You could also play defensive back...Speed would help there...and height...If you are taller than the receivers, you could be a threat to intercept a lot of passes...Depends on where you would rather be...offense or defense...

5'11'', 180lbs huh? shoot dude i'd say GO FOR IT!!! the dude below says linebacker.... NO WAY!! haha dependeing on how fast you are and how tall people are on your team i'd say WR, CB, FS, or even QB if u have a good arm. The worse your team is the better chance u have to play plus if you are really good then maybe u could play DIV II ball in college.... my team was awful two years ago prob went 3-6 or something like that but we had this player that was AMAZING. he went on to ply division I ball. So go out and give it all u got!

go for it. If you didn't play those years your coach won't give you a lot of playing time unless you REALLY shine, but go for it. If your athletic enough a tight end spot would be perfect. Maybe outside linebacker if you love to hit people.

Football builds and shows character.. looks great on a college app. and if you get lucky you can get a scholarship.
Football is one of the most fun things you can do, lots of hitting, i suggest it to everyone.

Go for it... Be the quarterback so you can hook up with the coach's daughter.
