Use one part white vinegar to three parts water. Light a candle afterwards to remove the smell of vinegar from the room.

I agree, vinegar and water is fine, but for grease, try ammonia and water. Nice thing about the ammonia is it can be used outside on the plants.....just dilute it more.

Rubbing alcohol works great to shine chrome.
