Have a small plastic tank to put them into. Use toilet tubes to pick them up, they will probably run into them and just transfer them over, with your hand over the end!

Have another cage/tank alongside and pop them in there whilst you clean their home. If you don't have a spare tank have a good look around the house. There should be something to serve as a holding bay for the time it takes to clean the home out.

When I clean my gerbils' tank, I put the girls into their balls. One of them doesn't have a clue about making it move, but they are contained, and the other one gets a chance to explore.

If they're tame lift them out and put them in a smaller box while you clean the cage.Ensure it has a lid as they can jump high.

If they're not tame then use chase them into a box on it's side and shut them in.

Herd them into a little box that you can pick up and close and they can't escape from while you sort the cage out.

That's what I find easiest!

Give them some Exlax. If that doesn't work you have to give them enemas.
