Hi im pretty sure that its the 11th week before your due date that you can leave. You are entitled to 90% of you weekly/monthly wage packet for 6 weeks and then statutory maternity pay for 26 weeks. Which for me in march 2006 was £107 per week. You are definatly entitled to maternity pay. Good luck and many congratulations.

P.S. I Think that your now entitled to 9months paid maternity leave if your baby is born after April 1st 2007.

Hi- if your baby is born after the 1st of April - you will get six months paid mat leave including mat pay - and only get SMP for the remaining 3 months - just confirmed with HR yesterday. For me that works out as £112.75 a week - so for me not worth taking the last three months - will have to go back to work.

You should also be entitled to child benefit - £17.00 ish a week and also child tax credits.

your line manager should advise you of some vital things and bk an appointment with your HR. you also has to get a maternity certificate fr your midwife, and you need to submit it to your HR...you have to follow these things up as soon as possibke, or you might loose your maternity pay... good luck!!!
