I don't think we know enough of the details to be able to ascertain the cause of death. Most Egyptian history books leave that issue open for further reserach.

It is still uncertain. There is much debate about how her life ended. Because to begin with, Dr. Joann Fletcher, the one who claims to have unearthed the famous queen's mummy, is still being attacked by skeptical scholars for certain incongruent and insufficient pieces of evidence she uses to verify her claim. Without the sure, "real" mummy of Nefertiti, scholars cannot begin their study of the body to discover the real cause of her death. And it's also been difficult because all mummies have, in one way or another, fallen victim to tomb robbers who were known to mutilate the remains in order to steal the jewelery stuck in bone and cavity.
