Normally they trade the laptop for a bag of Weed or, now days, some Meth. The dealer probably sell it to someone else who will keep it or give it to a family member as a present. Years down the road it may show up, but, I really doubt that.

I would check at the person who stole it's house, silly. If you have the PHYSICAL address, which is burned into the nic card of the laptop, you may be able to trace it if they get online with it, but that would take a computer genius. An IP address will do you NO good, tho, as most of them are dynamic and change frequently.

Well that's all the places I would suggest you to look.
The other thing would be to just keep your eyes and ears open,if it was someone you all know it will come out.
Post flyer's,this might help, ask around to others you know.
The sad part is, she may never see it again.
Good Luck!!

Dont foget your more tech savy criminals often list items on ebay where they can truly get market value for the items vs the $10 worth of crack.

You already hit the best spots. Keep an eye on local bulletin boards at a college, etc.
