I have a theory, based on a purely subjective analysis, that Yahoo Q&A users can be categorized as optimist or pessimist based on where they are on the political spectrum. Those who tend to the right seem, in my view, to be pessimists. Those who seem to be on the left of the political spectrum tend to be more optimistic. What do you think?

Personally in recent years I have gone more to the right with my political view. Interestingly I was raised to the left and on reaching adulthood many years ago I felt the need to go with how I was thinking. I remain an optimist in the present day by a thread which is alarming both to myself and my family. I add that if we are so low (which is a wide spread opinion) on hope, there is only one way we can go and that of course is up. Sooner rather than later I hope.

Pessimist about now, optimist about the long term future. I'm just worried how much worse things will have to get before political figures have the nerve to do what needs to be done.

i basically think all politians are corrupt no gooders who use the media as a tool to manipulate something wrong into something right. so to tell you the truth i could n't give a **** about politics but i just hope some day good and honourable people will have control. but then again that will never happen. so i guess i'm a pessimistic optimist!

interactive world to be whittled down just to 2 types of user-i for one would have lost interest in this site long ago if it was!

I reckon that if this country keeps going the way that it is, you will only have to sneeze and somebody will call you politically incorrect, it's getting beyond a joke. So i guess, pessimist.

Leftwards politics tends to assume the best of people, rightwards tends to assume its every man for himself. That's a big generalisation but yes, there's some truth in it.
Personally, I'm a knee-jerk fascist with irreconcilable liberal tendencies.

I think you are completeley wrong. Why has Britan gotten into the trouble that it is in today and in trouble of total colapse? Because of the left and your liberal policies of letting in immigrants especially muslim ones. Watch out. You are in a lot more trouble than you can imagine.
